IS THIS SOFTBALL WEATHER??

Hudson Heat Gold earn second place in the 2009 NSA Monster Bash in perhaps the worst weather we have ever seen as a team.

Our girls (and this includes you Val!) went undefeated this weekend on the softball diamond in Dracut while playing in the Monster Bash.  Saturday was almost comical when we arrived at Dracut High at 6:45 am for a 7:50 start.  It was still dark out and there was frost on the grass.  Thanks to Mr. Dawson for having that propane heater!  Saturday's pool play started out with a 7-3 victory over the Seacoast Breakers with AJ in the circle and her sister Val filling out our roster (dwinded by PSAT's and high school sports) and playing a big role for us with an rbi single late in the game.   The middle game of the day was a tightly played contest against the NH Lightning, but the girls were able to hold on behind the arm of Lauren and Abby's defense at second base.  The third game of pool play pitted the Heat against the NH Diamond Gems and with Kelsey and Delaney back in action after the PSAT's, the Heat ended the day with a 10-4 with Kelsey pitching well and Delaney showing off her power.

As the #2 seed, it would once again be the Seacoast Breakers first thing Sunday morning.  Under threatening skies and numbing cold, the game started and finished as scheduled with our girls toughing out an 8-0 victory.  Wise minds took over and cancelled the rest of the days action and it was a second place weekend for the Heat.  The offseason is now upon us girls...   have fun!
